California Residents CCW Registration
Expedite your CCW Renewal Certification by having your training certificate ready for your application review.
We make the CCW renewal process as easy and efficient as possible, meeting the requirements for the 16-hour course for new CCW applicants and the 8-hour course for renewals.
To qualify for your CCW certificate, you must understand key California Penal Code sections related to firearms—including permissible use, prohibited locations, and both civil and criminal liabilities involving firearms. Furthermore, you must understand OCSD Policy #218
The course includes reading and video segments followed by multiple-choice quizzes after each section. You must complete each section before advancing. Please pace yourself: 6 hours are required for renewals and 13 hours for new students. Note that your progress is monitored for compliance.
Once you’ve completed the online portion, notify me of your completion and we will schedule a live fire exam using the same weapon(s) that will appear on your permit.
For the initial firearm, you’ll shoot 10 rounds each at 3, 5, and 7 yards (30 rounds total).
For each additional firearm, you’ll shoot 20 rounds total: 10 at 5 yards and 10 at 7 yards. A minimum 70% hit rate is required at each distance.
